Brief description Three separate interviews. (1) Recalls childhood and family life in Northampton where she was born. Describes her father’s job as a professional shoe maker and mother as a nurse. Talks about school and institutional racism. Recalls her first trip to Jamaica with her mother and brother and being excited to see other Black children. Talks about her involvement in sports at school and being the captain of the athletics and netball teams. Describes her family life. Recalls her career as nurse, police officer and her voluntary work to set up and run a number of Black community organisations in Northampton, including West Indian Parents Association (WIPA) and Matta Fancanta Movement (MFM). (2) Gives details about setting up Council for Ethnic Minority Communities (CEMC) with her husband and starting WIPA with members of Northampton's Black communities. Talks about Black politics and her awarenss of the Black Power movement in the United States of America (USA). Recalls her four meetings with Bob Marley. Describes church life and recalls travels around USA. Talks about changes in the Black community in Northampton over the years and race relations.
