Shaping the Future project successfully completed three projects.

Working with groups across the county, Food Through the Generations, used food as a stimulus to explore heritage and cultural diversity. Participants were encouraged to interview one another about food traditions and look at the significance of some foods within different cultures. A look at trade routes in and out of Britain was also researched.

At the end of the project a cookbook, From Clanger to Coriander was produced containing the recipes collected and the stories and traditions behind them.

The second project, Talk to the Page was an inter-generational project looking at language and communication. The aim of the project was for elders and young people to share stories and experiences both orally and written. Participants then worked with creative practitioner John Sailsman, to write / re-write what they have discovered. This could take the form of prose, verse or letters. Six sessions were held at libraries and community venues across Northamptonshire.

River of Life was the third project that engaged members of the community from Corby and Oundle to come together to create a community led and inspired performance. NBHA were partnered in this venture by Oundle Festival of Literature and Corby Zone. Original resources from the collection of NBHA were used to inspire a performance that told the histories we all share that are often ignored or forgotten.
