Black British History: Selected Studies. This book presents a varied and fascinating collection of studies in Black British History ranging across three hundred years of Britain’s links to Africa, North America, the Caribbean and the Indian sub-continent.

The Selected Studies fill important gaps in the generally received record of British History, providing readers with an opportunity to extend their understanding of this country’s global past. The book is the product of an ongoing partnership between Northamptonshire Black History Association and the University of Northampton.

Sharing the Past

This teaching resource explores three different topics covered within the book Sharing the Past. These mini-teaching packs are intended to provide materials for one or two lessons either as a lead into or as part of a wider general topic. The packs relate to different periods in the past in order to promote the integration of a black dimension in both the recent and distant past as part of our multicultural society and wider world.

Sharing the Past

Sharing the Past: Northamptonshire Black History has been written by fifteen members and supporters of the Northamptonshire Black History Association. It presents an overview of the county's links to the wider world, and especially to Africa, the Caribbean and the Indian sub-continent. Fully illustrated in colour, this 150-page book is the first publication telling a rich variety of local Black History stories and setting them in historical context. It is also the first local Black History book which links together evidence from the distant past with the more recent histories of local communities with African and Asian roots.
